Set in the Great Depression-era California, Mildred Pierce follows the life of the titular character, a middle-aged woman who, after her marriage falls apart, must rebuild her life and provide for her two daughters.
The story begins with Mildred’s separation from her unfaithful and irresponsible husband, Bert (Brian F. O’Byrne), who has abandoned his family. Left to care for her daughters, Mildred takes on multiple jobs to support them. As she struggles to maintain her dignity and independence, she slowly rises from a humble working-class woman to a successful restaurateur.
However, despite her professional accomplishments, she finds herself entangled in a complex and increasingly painful relationship with her eldest daughter, Veda (Morgan Turner/Emily Meade), whose ambition and sense of entitlement grow with each passing year.
